Delegate Jessica “Jess” Anderson has represented Virginia’s 71st House of Delegates District since January 2026. The 71st District includes the entire City of Williamsburg and parts of James City and New Kent Counties.
In the Virginia House of Delegates, Delegate Anderson serves on the House Education, Public Safety, and Counties, Cities, and Towns Committees. In May 2026, House Speaker Don Scott appointed her to serve on the Advisory Board on Teacher Education and Licensure, the Commission on Civic Education, and the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Board of Trustees.
In her first legislative session in office, she introduced fourteen bills and ten resolutions. Ten of those bills successfully passed both chambers, the most bills for any freshman Delegate in 2026, and were signed into law by the governor. Her top legislative priorities include tackling key affordability issues, strengthening public education, and expanding workforce educational opportunities in communities across the Commonwealth.
A lifelong Virginian, wife, mother, community advocate, and runner, she has called the 71st home for the past 25 years, raising her family in all three corners of the district. Her professional work experience includes nearly a decade in insurance and billing for two local dental offices, and over eight years in the front office of a public elementary school, a position she currently holds while serving as a Delegate.
Delegate Anderson is a proud alumna of Thomas Nelson Community College and earned an AS degree in business administration in 2007. She also completed the Political Leaders Program at the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership in 2024.
