Proclaiming Grace Outreach
On March 20, 2008, the Barhamsville community lost a bright young life: Jenna Grace King. As her family and home church mourned, that grief became a catalyst for hope. Inspired by Jenna’s determination—graduating high school early and nearly completing her first year at Randolph College by age 17—members of Tabernacle UMC formed Proclaiming Grace Outreach, a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
What began as a response to tragedy quickly grew into a vision for service. Our ministries provide clothing, food, and other vital support to those facing hardship. Supported by more than 20 churches and civic groups, Proclaiming Grace Outreach channels Jenna’s spirit of perseverance into practical help that changes lives.
On the night we lost Jenna, God told me, “I am going to show you a new way to grieve.” That promise became Proclaiming Grace Outreach. We are humbled to serve as a vessel for change, carrying Jenna’s legacy forward through compassionate outreach and community partnership. — Melanie King
